Celia Waterhouse returned to Piano and Singing studies after a degree in Scandinavian Languages at University College London. She has been teaching the piano from her home in East Cambridgeshire, and in Cambridge, for over 20 years, and also leads music classes for pre-school and infant age children, an important foundation for instrumental lessons.

During her teaching career she has been active as an accompanist and musical director in many local concerts and productions, including founding and directing Soham and District Concert Society which staged large charity concerts involving amateur musicians of all ages. During the 90s she directed Burwell Summer Music School, and was accompanist for the Phoenix Singers of Burwell.

In more recent years she has been much involved in studying the Kodály approach to music education, and in promoting the work of the British Kodály Academy. She headed the Editorial team working on the BKA Songbook How Can I Keep From Singing! (publ. 2000), and served as the organisation's Chairman from 200-2003.

She now uses the Kodály approach in her piano teaching, and has developed materials for teaching early stages at the piano, involving pupils in aural-based learning through singing, with practical ensemble work at the keyboard. She has recently completed a beginner Recorder tutor using the same approach.

Celia is a keen choral singer and has been a Soprano with the East Cambs-based Cantilena Singers since 1986.
