Kodály training is accessible to everyone. It is an enjoyable and thorough grounding in music giving firm foundations for any musical activity.
- FOR AMATEURS who wish to develop musicianship and sight-reading for use in choirs and operatic societies, for composition, to support instrumental lessons, etc.
- FOR TEACHERS working with children in the classroom or nursery, or with adults.
- FOR MUSICIANS with no experience of the Kodály approach.
- FOR ENTHUSIASTS with little previous formal training in music.
The Kodály Approach teaches musicianship through singing, but you don't have to be a trained singer to take part. Neither do you need any instrumental skills - it is a bonus if you can play an instrument.
Using the singing voice frees the student from the technical demands of an instrument, and helps train the inner ear. Many people who have struggled to understand musical principles find they grasp them for the first time when they start to work in this way. Others find they can learn to read music and sing at sight.
